ChatGPT Ads Launcher

Set up a ChatGPT Ads campaign with context hints, UTMs and the OpenAI pixel, then judge it on cost per sale against Meta.

Free skill · Runs in your browser via Claude in Chrome · Works in Claude, Claude Code and ChatGPT

From Sanskar's ad account

A ChatGPT Ads campaign for the Meta ads course ran from 23 Sep 2026 at ₹725/day: 11,451 impressions, 567 clicks, 4.95% CTR, ₹6.46 CPC, ₹3,635 spent, 1 sale of ₹899. Paid ChatGPT visitors converted at 0.21%, against about 2% for paid Instagram and Facebook on the same page. The clicks were cheap and real. The buyers weren't there yet, likely because ads only show to Free and Go users. Worth testing for your offer, but compare it on cost per sale from day one.

Install

Run this once in your terminal. Claude Code picks the skill up in your next session, in every project.

Terminalmkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/chatgpt-ads-launcher && curl -fsSL https://talktoads.com/skills/chatgpt-ads-launcher/SKILL.md -o ~/.claude/skills/chatgpt-ads-launcher/SKILL.md

For one project only, use .claude/skills/chatgpt-ads-launcher inside the project instead.

The skill

What the agent follows, from the SKILL.md you download.

ChatGPT shows ads under answers to logged-in users on the Free and Go plans. There are no keywords. You give context hints and ChatGPT matches the ad to the conversation. This skill sets a campaign up in the user's Chrome and stops before it goes live.

Needs Claude in Chrome (Claude Code: claude --chrome) with the user logged in at ads.openai.com. TalkToAds isn't required.

Before you start (the user does these)

  • Create the advertiser account. Country, currency and timezone are locked after creation, so pick them carefully.
  • Business verification and billing (card). Claude must not enter these.
  • Self-serve minimum in India was ₹725/day when it opened (Sep 2026). Check the current minimum in Ads Manager.

Steps

  1. Pick the offer. One product, one page. ChatGPT users are mid-question, so the offer should answer that question, like a guide, a tool or a course on exactly that topic.
  2. Campaign: create a campaign. For a first test choose Clicks (CPC) so you only pay for visits. Set the daily budget.
  3. Ad group and context hints: write 5–10 hints that describe the conversations where the ad belongs, e.g. "how to run Facebook ads", "Meta ads for a small business", "ad budget for a course launch". Add negative exclusions for topics you don't want ("free", "jobs", "salary") where relevant. Set the max bid.
  4. The ad: name, headline, description, image and landing URL. Add UTMs: ?utm_source=chatgpt&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=<name>.
  5. Conversions: install the OpenAI pixel from Tools → Conversions on the landing page if the user's site allows it. The UTMs work either way.
  6. Review and stop. Screenshot the summary, list settings, and wait for a yes before submitting. New campaigns go to review.

Judge it

After 5–7 days pull spend, clicks and CPC from Ads Manager. Then get sales from the payment gateway or analytics where utm_source=chatgpt. Compare conversion rate per visitor and cost per sale with Meta for the same offer. Clicks are cheap here. Whether buyers come is the real question.

Rules

  • Claude never types card details, IDs or passwords. Verification is the user's job.
  • Never submit or publish without a yes.
  • Don't judge on CTR. A high CTR with no sales is a cheap way to lose money.
