# Competitor Ad Library research

The Facebook Ad Library shows every ad a page is running right now. The useful signal isn't the creative, it's **how long** an ad has been running. Nobody pays for a losing ad for 60 days.

Needs Claude in Chrome (Claude Code: start with `claude --chrome`). The Ad Library is public, no login needed. TalkToAds isn't required for this one.

## Steps

1. **Open the library.** Go to `https://www.facebook.com/ads/library/`, set the country (e.g. India), category **All ads**, and search the competitor's page name. Pick their page from the dropdown, not keyword results.

2. **Count.** Read the result count ("~240 results") and filter to **Active**. Write down the count. A page with 200+ active ads is testing a lot. One with 5 has found winners.

3. **Find the long runners.** Sort or scroll and note each ad's "Started running on" date. Every ad live for **30+ days** is a likely winner. For each one, capture:
   - start date and how many days it has run
   - format (reel/video, image, carousel)
   - the hook: first line of the text and the first 3 seconds of the video
   - CTA and the landing page URL

4. **Follow the funnel.** Open 2–3 landing pages from the long runners. Note the price, what's included, the checkout (Razorpay, Stripe, GHL...), and any upsell or order bump after payment. Don't buy anything. Read the page.

5. **Write the teardown.**
   - Their offer ladder: front-end price → upsells → backend
   - The 3 longest-running hooks, word for word
   - Formats that dominate
   - What they **don't** do that you could

6. **Turn it into tests.** End with 2–3 hooks or angles to try in your own ads, adapted to your product. Not copied creatives.

## Rules

- Research only. Don't copy creatives, text or brand assets.
- Never fill forms, sign up, or pay on a competitor's page.
- Many results doesn't mean a lot of spend. Count the long runners, not the total.
- Save the teardown to a file so it can be compared next month.

## From Sanskar's research

One Indian course seller had about **240 active ads** on 12 Oct 2026. Most of them promoted free 3-hour webinars that sell a ₹1,899 program at the end. Another sold a $17 product as the front end with $49 and $97 one-click upsells after checkout. In both cases the ads were the least interesting part. The money was in what happened after the first payment.
